The Jayhawk Theatre Fundraising Video was created to generate excitement, build momentum, and strengthen philanthropic support for the restoration of one of Topeka’s most iconic cultural landmarks. More than a renovation story, the video positions the theatre as a once in a generation investment in the city’s creative life, economic growth, and shared future. Through cinematic visuals and a strong emotional narrative, the piece invites viewers to see what is possible when history, culture, and community come together.

DEFINE
This project began with a clear challenge. The story needed to move beyond restoration and communicate why the Jayhawk Theatre matters now. The campaign defined the theatre not only as a historic building in need of renewal, but as a future destination that could shape downtown Topeka for decades to come. It framed the ask in terms of legacy, opportunity, and collective pride.
DESIGN
The video was designed to guide viewers through a story of progress and possibility. Sweeping visuals, intentional pacing, and aspirational messaging were used to illustrate both the theatre’s heritage and its future as a 42,000 square foot, two stage, multi use venue. The script highlighted its ability to host music, comedy, film, private events, and regional programming while also weaving in the projected economic impact of the project. Every creative choice was made to help viewers feel the scale of the vision and the significance of the investment.
DELIVER
The finished piece delivered an emotionally engaging fundraising tool that helped accelerate support for the campaign. It translated architectural plans and development goals into a story people could feel and believe in. By balancing cultural significance with economic potential, the video gave donors, advocates, and community members a compelling reason to participate in the theatre’s next chapter.
