Carol Gallmeyer brings a unique blend of creativity, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to her role as Designer and Client Partner at Compass. A lifelong lover of art and design, Carol grew up in a family full of artists, with her father embracing the emerging technology of the 1980s. This environment made pursuing a career in graphic and web design a natural choice for Carol.
PROFESSIONAL PATH TO COMPASS
Her journey into the field began in her youth when she started creating graphics and posters on the rudimentary software available. By 2002, she realized she could combine her love of art, music, and technology into a career with lofty goals of working for a record label designing album art. After earning an associate’s degree in Business from Allen County in 1997 and a bachelor’s in Electronic Arts from Washburn University in 2004, she dove into the creative world.
Carol has worked in a variety of industries, gaining a well-rounded experience that has shaped her approach to design. This diverse background enables her to bring a broad perspective to her work, whether she’s creating branding, digital content, or websites.
In 2016, Carol launched Cottonwood Whispers Design, where she has created, hosted, and managed hundreds of websites and countless design projects. Often collaborating with her husband, who provides technical support and back-end expertise, she built a thriving business that eventually connected her to Compass. Her expertise in crafting intuitive, user-friendly websites has become an invaluable asset to the Compass team.
THE FUN STUFF
A lifelong Topekan, Carol cherishes time with her husband and son, along with their two Havanese dogs and a cat affectionately known as “the chief paperweight.” She enjoys reading, cooking, music, thrifting, and TV on Friday nights with the family. Always eager to learn, she’s excited to explore watercolor painting as her next creative adventure.
